Tandoori Fish Wraps

Ingredients:

For the Tandoori Fish:

  • 500g white fish fillets
  • 3 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp tandoori masala
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

For the Wraps:

  • 4 large whole wheat tortillas or wraps
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce or mixed greens
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 tomato, thinly sliced
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

For the Yogurt Sauce:

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh mint or coriander
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Marinate the Fish:

    • In a large bowl, combine the yogurt, lemon juice, tandoori masala, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala, and salt.
    • Add the fish fillets and coat them well with the marinade.
    • Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1-2 hours.

2. Cook the Fish:

    • Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick pan or skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the marinated fish fillets and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and has a nice char. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the fillets.
    • Once cooked, remove the fish from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes before flaking it into bite-sized pieces.

3. Prepare the Yogurt Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, mix together the yogurt, lemon juice, chopped mint or coriander, cumin powder, salt, and black pepper.
    • Stir well to combine and set aside.

4. Assemble the Wraps:

    • Warm the tortillas or wraps in a dry skillet or microwave for a few seconds to make them pliable.
    • Spread a generous amount of the yogurt sauce onto each tortilla.
    • Place a handful of shredded lettuce or mixed greens in the center of the tortilla.
    • Add a few slices of red onion, cucumber, and tomato on top of the greens.
    • Place the flaked tandoori fish on top of the vegetables.
    • Drizzle a little more yogurt sauce over the fish and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

5. Wrap and Serve:

    • Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to form a wrap.
    • Slice the wrap in half if desired and serve immediately.
